From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Fans can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
